Amaia Montero was born in 1976, in Irún ( Spain ) . She started the group La Oreja de Van Gogh in 1996, she sang in a talent contest but they didn't win.In 1997 she went to another talent contest and they won! They got a contract with Sony.
In 1998 the group released their first CD- Dile al sol. They played 150 concerts.
They recorded the second CD, el Viaje de Copperot, in 2000.
In 2001 she sang with Alex Ubago on his first CD.
