
Oasis is a British rock band formed in Manchester in the early nineties. He was originally composed by vocalist Liam Gallagher, guitarist Paul Arthurs, bassist Paul McGuigan and drummer Tony McCarroll, under the name of The Rain. Noel Gallagher joined later as guitarist and main composer, adopting the current name of Oasis.
Musically, their main influences have been, according to themselves, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Who. They have also appointed, among others, The Stooges, The Kinks, The Smiths and Neil Young.
Due to the 10 million copies sold of their debut album Definitely Maybe, at 20 million copies sold of his second album (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, And the fact that his third album Be Here Now is the best-selling in its first week in the history of England, with 813,000 copies, Oasis became not only one of the most important British groups of the 90s, but in the history of the United Kingdom. Have also launched more than 25 singles, 8 of them have reached the No 1 position in the British lists, and 2 of them since the No 1 U.S. lists .
The Gallagher brothers are leaders and composers of the band, and currently the only original members. They are also recognized for his constant bickering among themselves and with other bands and artists such as Blur and Robbie Williams, whom they have generated multiple appearances in the tabloid press. The current alignment is completed by guitarist Gem Archer, bassist Andy Bell and drummer Chris Sharrock.
In 2007, the band was awarded the BRIT Award for "outstanding contribution to music." In August 2007, Oasis began recording his seventh studio album in London, in January 2008 and traveled to California to do the job mix. This album will see its launch in mid-2008.
